Postdoctoral Research Positions in Trustworthy AI for Medicine

About

The ASSET Center at the University of Pennsylvania seeks applications from researchers interested in specializing at the intersection of trustworthy machine learning and medicine. The positions are part of a new 4-year project funded by ARPA-H, the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health, whose mission is to invest in breakthrough technologies, platforms, and solutions that can transform medicine and health.

The project will investigate novel solutions to AI-enabled decision making for personalized clinical decision support with an emphasis on safety and explainability. Candidates will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team comprising faculty in Computer Science (Rajeev Alur, Mayur Naik, Eric Wong) and physicians in the Perelman School of Medicine (Rajat Deo and Sameed Khatana in cardiovascular medicine, Gary Weissman in critical care medicine, Payal Shah and Ravi Parikh in oncology, and Qi Long in biostatistics). The research is expected to result in both publications in premier machine learning conferences and state-of-the-art models for clinical decision making in cardiology, critical care, and oncology.

Requirements

Applications are welcome from candidates with a PhD in machine learning and related areas. We are specifically interested in candidates with expertise in one of the following areas:

 

  1. Neurosymbolic learning

  2. Explainable AI

  3. AI for medicine

Positions will be offered starting Fall 2024 for the initial period of two years, with an option to renew for subsequent years. A competitive salary will be offered.
